My poinsettia enters its second year
I had given up on getting a poinsettia to repeat its beautiful colors after the first holiday season. This year I did it but I'm not quite sure how it happened. It was such a beautiful bushy green plant after the red leaves had disappeared that I kept it inside until summer and then put it outside. When the danger of frost threatened in late autumn, it was still a nice green plant so I brought it inside and gave it plant food with every watering. It didn't make it for the Christmas season but about January 15 we began to see some pinkish leaves appearing--and then more and more until today this is the way it looks, not as lush and full as its first incarnation but certainly a colorful addition to our table. If it lasts until summer we may try for a third season.
