On our delta trip, Muncie had been digging in the mud to show us the small crabs that lived there. As he was quite muddy he stepped into the shallow river to wash off and touched something with his foot. He took off his shirt and scooped it up to show us these two crabs mating. He said that in all his years on the river he had never seen crabs this color and didn't know if it was a different type of crab or if the coloration was part of the mating ritual. In either case, in a totally non-scientific, anthropomorphic observation, I find it interesting that the male appears jubilant with claws raised while the female covers her eyes!
