Each year during the winter months gaggles of geese are in every park and grassy area. The honking questions seem to be, "where are we going to go and what are we going to eat? Then, about the first of March, a young goose's fancy turns to pairing off for the upcoming nesting season. Suddenly there are no more gaggles. Geese are seen promenading two by two. Spring--and fuzzy young goslings--are only weeks away.
Thursday was a 65 degree day so I, and hundreds of stroller-pushing moms, spent the afternoon at the zoo. It's been two years since I stopped being a docent at the Denver Zoo but I still feel the need to occasionally check in with my "special animals," and I always take a camera just in case an irresistable moment occurs. At least one always does. The geese and the gorillas were the photogenic ones on Thursday.
Colorful Days
Friday and today I had a watercolor workshop with Judy Nakari from 9 to 3 both days. I have been attempting watercolor for five months. I sat at a table with two women who had been doing watercolor for 15 and 9 years. The people with years of experience in double digits were the majority. Yesterday I felt totally out of my depth and not a little frustrated but today I became the "squeaky wheel" and asked for clarification on some concepts the instructor had introduced in her demonstrations. She took a good amount of time to help me get unstuck with the result that I actually learned a lot--and have brought home a painting that may not end up as random pieces of a collage.
